Digital Concepts (DCI) was founded in 1990 by Paul Decker in St. Louis, Missouri, after a 20-year career in Silicon Valley during the early years of the computer business.
His focus, from the beginning of DCI, was based on the growth opportunity to provide electronic digital controls to the rapidly growing, but predominately mechanical –fitness equipment market. In the early years, DCI’s resources were committed to product design and development, using sub-contracted manufacturers.
In 1998, DCI opened its own manufacturing facility in Juarez, Mexico. Digital Concepts De Mexico is a wholly owned subsidiary with 150+ employees. The leased 35K sqf building is fully air-conditioned and is outfitted with a full service kitchen. The SMT lines are stationed with Fuji equipment.
In 2004, responding to customer migration of manufacturing to Asia, DCI established a second manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China. Digico is a wholly owned subsidiary with 130+ employees. The leased 60K sqf building is fully air-conditioned. The equipment and layout is an exact replica of the Mexico facility to maximize efficiency and quality.
DCI has emerged today as a globally-integrated design and manufacturing “supply chain” of technologically advanced software-driven electronics for the fitness, pool & hot tub, and other
intelligent motor control markets.
